About The Writers

PETER ATKINS once stood in line at the cafe in Pinewood studios in
England and had a detailed conversation about the quality of the filet
mignon with an older gentleman who kept patting Atkins' arm to make his
points. Realizing only later that he'd been chatting with Charlton
Heston, Atkins has forever regretted the missed opportunity to say "Take
your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape". The writer of three of
the Hellraiser movies and cult fright-flick Wishmaster, Atkins is also
the author of the novels Morningstar and Big Thunder, the rock'n'roll
horror musical The Djinn (for which he also wrote the music and lyrics),
and several short stories, most of which have appeared in award-winning
anthologies.
GLEN HIRSHBERG’s first novel, The Snowman’s Children, received rave
reviews from The Washington Post, Kirkus Reviews (starred review), and
numerous other publications. His story collection, The Two Sams, won two
International Horror Guild Awards, received four World Fantasy Award
nominations, was selected by Publishers’ Weekly as a Best Book of 2003,
and garnered enthusiastic notices from both the mainstream (Los Angeles
Times, Chicago Sun-Times, Library Journal, etc.) and genre (Locus, The
Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, etc.) press. He is a founding
member of the Rolling Darkness Revue along with Peter Atkins and Dennis
Etchison, and has just completed both a new novel, Sisters of Baikal,
and a second story collection, The Muldoon. Unlike Pete, he does not owe
Ramsey Campbell money. The malfunctioning fog machine was, alas, his
bright idea.
Hot local San Diego surfer chick NANCY HOLDER snorkled one time off
Swami's, saw eels, freaked out, and never did it again. However, during
her stint teaching Adult Ed for the San Dieguito School District, she
was fingerprinted by a sheriff's deputy who was a member of the
Self-Realization Fellowship. So it's all one big karmic wheel. She is a
USA-Today bestselling author of more than 200 short stories, essays, and
articles, and 78 novels. She has received four Bram Stoker awards from
the Horror Writers Association, and is a former HWA trustee
MICHAEL BLUMLEIN is the author of The Movement of Mountains; X,Y; and
the recently-released The Healer, as well as the award-winning story
collection The Brains of Rats. He has been nominated twice for the
World Fantasy Award, twice for the Bram Stoker Award and has been
short-listed for the James Tiptree Jr. Award. He has written for the
stage and for film, and his novel X,Y was recently made into a
feature-length movie.
ROBERT MORRISH is the editor of Cemetery Dance magazine and former
editor of The Scream Factory magazine. His short fiction has appeared in
more than 20 anthologies, including Horrors!, The UFO Files,
Subterranean Gallery, Shivers, and Cold Flesh. His first Western short
story “The Outsider,” which appeared in The Texas Rangers, was selected
as one of three finalists for the Western Writers of America Spur Award
for best short fiction. Born and raised in Michigan, Morrish lives deep
in the Santa Cruz Mountains, with his lovely wife Kayalucia (whom he
wed, most appropriately, on Halloween, 1999), four dogs, two horses, and
a black cat.
ROBERT MASELLO is a prize-winning journalist, successful TV writer
(CHARMED, SLIDERS, POLTERGEIST--THE LEGACY), and the bestselling author
of 16 books. His most recent novel is a supernatural thriller entitled
VIGIL (Berkley Books) and he is also the author of ROBERT'S RULES OF
WRITING -- 101 UNCONVENTIONAL LESSONS EVERY WRITER NEEDS TO KNOW
(Writer's Digest Books). He is currently the Visiting Lecturer in
Literature at Claremont McKennna College. "As terrifying as 'The Omen'
or 'The Exorcist'! Haunting and unforgettable .. A heart-stopping story
of mythic evil, brought to terrifying life in present-day New York. "
Jeffrey Long (on VIGIL).
TAMARA THORNE’s novels encompass everything she loves – ghosts (Haunted), conspiracy theories (The Forgotten), bad puns (go fish!), religious cults (Moonfall) , evil cheerleaders (The Sorority Trilogy), serial killers (Eternity), UFOs (Thunder Road), and sex (Candle Bay). Most books have some of everything, and more, more, more. Author of the notorious short story about a girl’s best friend, Good Vibrations, she also appears in the poetry anthology, The Devil’s Wine. Co-host of nationally syndicated paranormal talk show, Magick Mind Radio, Tamara is a real-life ghost hunter, and can often be found lurking in dark, deserted places. She claims this is research for fiction, but the bag full of body parts says otherwise.
